Karen Schifman is an art historian, mixed-media artist and collector. She has recently retired from 20 years of teaching art history at Cal State University, Northridge. The focus of Karen’s research is on women artists and the representation of women in visual culture. She has curated and organized several exhibitions and contributed to many exhibition catalogues. Her contemporary art blog, “Artful Amphora” is focused on women artists exhibiting in So. California. She sits on the board of the Southern California Women’s Caucus. This blog is a feature of their monthly newsletter. She has a strong aesthetic sensibility which has led her to new endeavors. As a mixed-media artist, she exhibits her work locally. Finally, as a collector and former interior designer she now has a carefully curated shop of vintage finds, pottery and art on etsy, Artful Amphora Studio.
